ELECTRONIC DESIGN SERVICES from INDUSTRIAL MICROSYSTEMS

The I.M.S. design/manufacturing  service is primarily involved in  the production of special purpose electronic units  used in manufacturing of test systems for the Automotive Components and Tobacco Industries. These units are usually micro controller based and incorporate both digital and analogue circuitry.

Recent Designs

Test Instruments :

I.M.S. has designed and continues to upgrade  Dry Air Leak Detectors  for use in the manufacture of Special Purpose Test/Assembly machines .
These units use  PIC micro controllers with temperature compensated piezoresistive pressure sensors requiring high levels of amplification to detect the very small pressure changes (millibar) caused by typical leak testing.

Controllers :

I.M.S. has designed a number of controller cards currently used in cigarette manufacturing machines, which have  high speed timing requirements. A very recent development uses a pulsed infra-red sensor based system to check the quality of cigarettes during manufacture and synchronizes to a Programmable Logic Controller to eject faulty product.

Lithium-ion Battery Chargers & Controllers :

New Lithium-ion battery packs which offer greater capacity/size than older technologies require relatively sophisticated chargers.  I.M.S. has recently developed for customers, a PIC based charger capable of delivering up to 3 amps @ 16.4 volts,  and a similar charger/controller which provides automatic charging and  switching between several battery packs for portable  computer systems.

New Designs :

I.M.S. is  willing to undertake design and production of  '1 of' or multiple units/ sub-assemblies.
For new customers the first order would normally be for a single development unit to prove the design and confirm the customers specification before committing to PCB manufacture.
